Books I Wish I Had Read In 2020

Hello lovelies! So this post was originally for Top Ten Tuesday for January 19th, 2021 but then *gestures to January 2021* happened and I wasn’t able to post this in time. But I really did want to share this list with you so I’m posting it now. I hope you like it and don’t mind that it’s basically a week late.

There are a TON of books I wish I had read last year and that I hope to get to this year–way more than 10 unfortunately– but are the 10 books released in 2020 that I really I wish I had gotten to and 5 reasons why I want to read them!

So technically I did read most of Addie during 2020. It was my most anticipated book of 2020 and it did not disappoint at all. But I also haven’t been able to bring myself to finish it. I still have about 100 pages to go. For me Addie has just been slowly digging it’s self under my skin and into my bones. Schwab has been my favorite author since I read A Darker Shade of Magic back in 2016 and over the years she’d talked about her process of writing Addie–going from an idea to a finished book. This book has just been such a long wait for me and now that it’s hear I’m having trouble completing the journey.

Addie is, for me, one of those books that speaks to so much of my life and finishing it feels like losing a friend. Or at least that’s how I imagine it’ll feel. So I keep putting off finishing those last pages, wanting to cling to this book that I see so much of myself and my life in.

But I also know that finishing Addie’s story is important for me so I do plan on finishing it by the spring. I always have a hard time finishing books that I connect deeply with, and Addie by far has been the book I’ve connected with the most in recent years.
