Top 5 Saturday: September 19th, 2020

Hello lovelies! Happy Saturday! What are you reading this weekend? I have a packed schedule today and tomorrow so I won’t be getting much reading done but I hope you do!

Top 5 Saturday is hosted by Devouring Books! Each week there’s a new theme and you select your top 5 books that fit that theme! This week’s theme is Award Winning Books! I’m super excited to share my list with you guys this week!

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

Gideon is one of my favorite books ever and it’s been nominated for a ton of awards and won a couple too!

The nominations include: Hugo Award nominee for Best Novel (2020), Nebula Award nominee for Best Novel (2019), World Fantasy Award nominee for Best Novel (2020), and others.

And Gideon won the Locus Award for Best First Novel (2020)!

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Red, White and Royal Blue was one of the first romance books I read and it really opened up the romance genre for me. It’s won several awards including the ALA Alex Award (2020) and the Goodreads Choice Award for both Romance and Debut Novel (2019).

Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado

This book was like nothing I have ever read before or since and if you haven’t read it yet I highly recommend it! it’s been nominated for a bunch of awards including: Nebula Award Nominee for Best Novelette (2015), National Book Awrd Finalist for Fiction (2017), Kirkus Prize Nominee for Fiction (2017), World Fantasy Award Nominee of Collection (2018).

It has also won several awards including: Shirley Jackson Award for Single Author Collection (2017), Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction (2018), national Book Critics Circle Award for John Leonard Prize (2017), NAIBA Book of the Year for Fiction (2018).

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Nevernight is one of my favorite audiobooks and I’ve been putting off finished Darkdawn for ages because I’m not ready to let these characters go.

Nevernight has been nominated for several awards including: David Gemmell Legend Award nominee for Best Fantasy Novel (2017), and David Gemmell Ravenheart Award nominess for Best Fantasy Cover Art (2017).

It also won the Aurealis Award for Best Fantasy Novel (2016).

Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

Saga is by far one of the best stories I have ever read, graphic novel or otherwise. It’s not for everyone and does include NSFW art but if you love science fiction I highly recommend this series.

Saga has been nominated for a ton of awards, most of which it has gone on to win. These awards include: Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story (2013); Harvey Awards for Best Continuing or Limited Series, Best New Series, Best writer (Brian K. Vaughan), and Best Artists (Fiona Staples); British Fantasy Award for Best Comic/Graphic Novel (2013); Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards for Best New Series, Best Continuing Series and Best Writer (Brian K.
