Top 5 Saturday: June 13th, 2020

Hello lovelies! I hope you have had a good week so far!

It’s been a pretty rough week for me with my parents back home. I love having them here but it’s exhausting at the same time. It’s also really setting in what my life *won’t* be like once they do get to move home permanently and I become my mom’s primary caregiver. That’s been hard to come to terms with. But there’s been bright spots too. So I’m trying to get back into a routine where reading and self-care play a bigger role than they have this last week.

Anyways, enough about me and my life. Let’s talk about books!

Top 5 Saturday is hosted by Devouring Books and this week’s prompt is Books with One Word Titles! For this week’s prompt I’ve selected books I’ve loved and books I want to read!

1. Vicious by V.E. Schwab

A friend of mine recently asked me what book I would give to people to help get to know me and Vicious was the first book to come to mind. I love a good villain story and this is one of the best that I have ever read. This is V.E. Schwab at her best and I cannot recommend this book, or series enough!

2. Fable by Adrienne Young

Fable is one of my most anticipated reads for 2020 and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC through NetGalley of it! I’m really looking forward to reading this one over the summer.

3. Docile by K.M. Szpara

Docile was recommended to be by one of my fellow booksellers and while I’m really excited to read it, I also know it’ll be a difficult book to read.  This one comes with trigger warnings for sexual assault so it’s definitely not for everyone.

4. Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams

Queenie is described as “Bridget Jones’s Diary meets Americanah in this disarmingly honest, boldly political, and truly inclusive novel that will speak to anyone who has gone looking for love and found something very different in its place” and I can’t believe I haven’t read this one yet! It sounds amazing and I’m hoping to get to it this summer!

5. Legend by Marie Lu

Legend has a special place in my heart. It was the book that got me back into reading in my early 20’s and it opened up the world of YA to me as well. This series is phenomenal and I cannot recommend it enough.
