Hello lovelies! Sorry for not posting the. last few days. It’s been a stressful few days and I haven’t gotten much reading done unfortunately.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl is really fun though so I didn’t want to miss it!

For this prompt I decided to list ten reasons why I love my favorite author, V.E. Schwab!

#9: Get Up Get Up, There Are Worlds To Conquer
This is Schwab’s personal motto and one that got me through some really though times. They mean so much to me and I am so thankful for them.

Schwab was not an overnight sensation. Her debut novel quietly went out of print, her first Young Adult series wasn’t completed because the publisher didn’t pick up. the third book..but she kept writing. She didn’t give up and now some of her oldest books are being reprinted and maybe we’ll get that third Archived book after all…
#7: Magic Systems
I love that the magic system in the Shades of Magic series is relatively easy to understand. I didn’t need a guidebook to understand how it all worked and it was very refreshing.
#6: Peculiar Coats
Coats that have a mind of their own, but also change to suit your needs? Yes please!
#5: LGBTQIA+ Representation
Schwab has included some of the best LGBTQIA+ representation throughout her books that I’ve come across, including asexual and gender fluid characters–characters I hardly ever run across.
#4: Enemies to Friends
Don’t get me wrong, I love enemies to lovers. But enemies to friends is just as good, and not done as often unfortunately. Kate and August’s relationship is just wonderful and I love that Schwab gave us a story about unlikely friends, rather than lovers. I think we need more stories like these.
#3: Marcella Riggins
Marcella is fucking tired of men telling her what to do, and who she can be. So, she shows them exactly who she is, what she can do, and just how powerless they really are. She’s always been vindictive, power hungry, spiteful–she just needed a little push to become vengeful.
#2: Victor Vale
I love villains. I love villain stories. I need more stories where the villain wins. Is Victor Vale a villain? Yes. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong (#sorrynotsorry). He’s hellbent on killing his arch-nemesis and doesn’t care about how things get done to make that happen and he’ll kill anyone who gets in his way or who he views as a liability. Yes he adopts a small child, her undead dog and a computer hacker along the way and would do almost anything for them but they’d also probably be happier and safer if Victor weren’t around.
#1: Lila Bard
Lila Bard is my favorite character of any book. Ever. She takes what she wants, doesn’t put up with anyone’s shit and is 12 steps ahead of the men in her life. She’s reckless and smart and often gets in over her head and won’t ask for help. She’s unapologetic about who she is. I can’t wait to see what she’s up to in Threads of Power–hopefully she’s taught Kell and thing or two about knives.

I’ve really got to move at least one of these books up in priority on my TBR list. I’ve been meaning to read her stuff for quite some time, and this post really gave me some incentive! Awesome post.

Thank you! The Shades of Magic series is what most people start with from what I’ve seen but I hope you love which ever you pick up first!
