Top 5 Saturday: Retellings

Hello lovelies! I hope you all are having a great weekend so far!

Top 5 Saturday is hosted by Devouring Books and today’s prompt is: Retellings!

I LOVE retellings — Jane Austen, Sherlock Holmes and Alice in Wonderland especially. Not all of these were five star reads for me but I really did enjoy each of these books and I would definitely recommend readings them if you haven’t!

1. Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite Jane Austen book and I loved this modern take on Elizabeth, Darcy and the Bennett family.

2. A Study in Charlotte by Brittaney Cavallaro

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are my favorite dynamic duo and this modern day retelling is fantastic!

3. Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

This was one of my favorite reads a few years ago. I loved this take on The Goblin King but I did feel like it should have been a standalone. I haven’t read the second book, Shadowsong, yet but I do plan on reading it one day.

4. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

While this wasn’t one of my favorite reads ever I really loved the idea behind this book, and the rest of the books in this series. Maniscalco’s take on Jack the Ripper was truly novel and I really enjoyed the story she wove.

5. Heartless by Marissa Meyer

I love Alice in Wonderland and while this one wasn’t my favorite retelling, I did really enjoy it. It didn’t break my heart like I wanted it too but Meyer did a fantastic job exploring what made the Queen of Hearts so ruthless.
