Happy Re-release Day Monsters of Verity!

Today V.E. Schwab’s Monsters of Verity duology got a re-release with these gorgeous new covers!

This is one of my favorite duologies and I love these covers! I think they perfectly capture the story Schwab weaves throughout the pages of each book.

This Savage Song was the second book by Schwab that I read, and I read it almost in one sitting. It was totally captivating and impossible to put down. August and Kate are unlike any other characters I have ever read and their story was uplifting and heartbreaking simultaneously.

Our Dark Duet was one of the most heartbreaking books I have ever read. It was a perfect continuation and conclusion to this series and while it was hard to let these characters go Schwab did an amazing job concluding their story.

The thing I appreciated most about these books as that August and Kate are enemies who become friends and that’s it. No enemies to lovers romance. Just friends. I think it’s very important to have characters that would do anything for one another, but who are friends and not lovers. I feel like we don’t see enough of those relationships in YA and yet friendships are often the most important relationships in our lives. Presenting that kind of relationship, that kind of friendship, here, was phenomenal and I’m thankful that friendship was what Schwab focused on in this series.

If you haven’t picked up this series yet, now is the perfect time!
